From technology to capability: how Leading Wings evolved
Leading Wings began with drones. Experience taught us that drones were only one part of a much larger capability gap.
Leading Wings initially appeared to be becoming a drone organization. Our first major initiative was introductory drone training for young people in Yola and Makurdi.
The response was encouraging, but it also revealed something important: drones were only one part of a much larger capability gap.
Since January 2025, Leading Wings has expanded to facilitate subject-matter dialogues, leadership development sessions, high-school technology programmes, campus professional outreaches, mentoring and skills-development clinics, youth and sports development initiatives, advisory engagements, consulting activities, and community programmes, reaching more than 1,000 people across multiple Nigerian states and other African countries.
The lessons have been consistent. Whatever the subject, the underlying challenge is often the same: there are gaps between where people and organizations are today and the capabilities they need to navigate where the world is going.
That is why Leading Wings is now a Strategic Foresight and Capability Development outfit.
